How utterly annoying is it to:

1) Have an appliance or an electronic device break on you?

And then:

2) Have to call a repairman??

And then even worse:

3) Have to wait for the repairman to come???

(You know the drill:  "Yep, we'll be there sometime between the hours of 8 and 5.  But only if there's a full moon.  And if you promise us your firstborn child.  Then we'll show up.  Maybe.")

Well, I'm here to tell you that there is a very helpful site, called PartSelect, (with a kinda cute repairman in the bottom corner who talks to you!) that can help you to perform your own home repairs, thus saving you time (waiting waiting waiting) and $$$$.

On the PartSelect site, there is a Virtual Repairman link, which is essentially a free tool that will instantly helps you figure out what’s wrong with your appliance or electronic device.  Simply enter your model number and from there it will take you to a list of symptoms that your particular model experiences and then by clicking on one of those problems, it will take you to a list of parts that will fix that specific problem (and how often it actually does) for your specific model.

Another option is to start right at the PartSelect home page and enter your model number.  Doing this model search right from the home page gives you several ways to locate the EXACT NEW PART you need:  by symptom, by searching for its name, and by location.  And then it gives you exploded diagrams for each section of the appliance.

In short, the PartSelect site is the only one in their industry that helps customers at every stage of the repair: diagnosing the problem, figuring out the part needed, getting the part, and then installing the part!


Just by typing all this, I feel empowered and kinda wanna put on my hard hat and tool belt. 

Minus the plumber's crack, of course.
